Hi Carmen, hi John,

and a belated thanx for your reply. Yes, both, of course!

You mention in your reply that you have mentioned in other threads that blind people are excellent resources as models for auditory and tactile stuff, and deaf people for visual scanning patterns.

I think it is very good advice, and hope I will find myself in a situation where I will get the opportunity to put it into practice.

However I have a question, on a different logical level. This advice is content advice, right? - and this makes me wonder why it is okay, (I certainly think that it is ok, and thank you for giving it.), whereas some other well intentioned advice is not ok.

I do understand that our interactions through this website hardly are of the same logical type as those in a therapist-client relationship. I also understand that there are a number of relationships/situations where it is unavoidable, entirely proper and even desireable to deal with content. Parent-child, policeman-lawbreaker, teacher-student.

Did I just answer my own question? I do not know, but I hope you two have something to add.

I also have one further questions regarding content/process.

Why are metaphors ok. If someone tells a metaphor and thereby links one element or possible action with some element in the story, and then lets the story go as to show that is the preferable action, then why is that not considered messing with (perhaps unknown) content? Or is it just an example of improper use of metaphor?

All the best,

Thomas
