I fully concur with your understanding of intuition and that Polya does not make a connection between intuition and non mechanical. Turing DOES make such a connection in his earlier work, where he describes a machine having access to pronouncements of a non mechanical "oracle" though by the 50's he seems to have changed his position. I always felt that Polya's work was limited by his terms ("tacit" from silent, "explicit" from written) and that your own work on the relationship between conscious and unconscious processing was far more enlightening.. :-) |
