C, I like the way you think (not specifically refering to the current post, but in listening to your general tone). I think that religions began with religious experience for the most part, but I'm not sure if that is incompatible with what you said. On religion and NLP, I thought there was an interesting tidbit in the Old Testament. God said that the builders of the tower of Babel could do anything they put their minds to (in so many words). But He didn't like their motives or their arrogance, so he changed their language. This suggests that language was at the root of their power, and has interesting implications for the linguistic aspects of NLP. Two lessons: Language is powerful ("in the beginning was the word," and remember that most creation stories have an acoustic component--God said, sang, etc. to bring about creation/organization). The other lesson is that arrogance (pride) comes before the fall. And unecological motives always result in poor outcomes. Anyway, your religious comments just brought that to mind. Take care. Mike. |
