Hi GSM, Interesting questions....though I'm not sure how you can sort out positive expectation from application of the know nothing state. Whatever the field of therapy/intervention there are common factors....sometimes called demand characteristics of the context... which can account for up to 70% of the clients change (yes I know J and C eschew statistics)... 1. A client who has a positive expectation that treatment will help them. 2. A therapeutic relationship/alliance based on rapport and trust. 3. A convincing therapeutic model that gives an explanation for the patient's problems and a method to address them. 4. A "technique" which requires the active participation of patient and therapist. The know nothing state may not in itself have any feedforward filters but the surrounding context of the intervention certainly does have. Regards, Lewis. |
