Carmen and John, in your response to LJE you write: "The "real" world is out there whether we map it or not; truth is the proposed name of the mapping relationship called isomorphism between that presently unknowable "real" world and our representations of it." Consider the following statement: "Last year, september 11, almost 3000 people were killed in the world trade center." This is a true statement. It is truth. What I do not understand is how it can be considered to be isomorphic with the reality it describes. Am I missing something obvious here? Best regards Uncle Fester |
