Plug them in = a metaphor for fully associated

Provoke = replicate (as best you can) the stimulus. In the exercise I refer to in the article- I used the words lets go around the table and actually asked different people to introduce themlsves while I calibrarted the state rise in the lady. (I took on the facilitar role) She was then asked to say a peice about herself. So we cretaed a situation where the client fully accssed problem state- and the group could see.

You wrote “May I Aak if you can re-call an experience where some one became plugged right in front of your eyes?”

Lots - including the above.  I am not interested in the content. I just want to see the state. So I do the same process to test – the client and I have reference point for the change or if more work needs to be done. The most extreme case of association - where I provoked the state was when a demo subject raised his hand to strike me. I did absolutely nothing, I didn't even flinch. The absence of a flinch – in my opinion  broke the subject’s pattern and his hand was suspended in mid air which was perfect for the demo. After what seemed like ages (but was really seconds) we both looked at his arm suspended in mid air and both laughed out loud. A pattern had been broken, he knew it and I knew it. (I can't explain how I knew it). I just knew the work was done. I did test.
