Mark I intended the following: given the limits of consciousness (7 + or - 2 chunks) one or more of the representational systems typically are assigned to unconscious functioning. The cultural point is the which one of these representational systems is assigned to unconscious status varies from culture to culture. For example, my limited understanding is that some of the AmerIndian Plains tribes have the same kind of choice (consciously) with kinesthetics that western European and the derivative North American cultures have in the visual system, however, for them (the AmerIndians) the visual system is/was traditionally the involuntary one as kinesthetics is for western Europeans.
