GSM, I can only guess, but if you can distinguish kinesthetically between when you remember and when you don't, that might be useful. Otherwise having someone else calibrate for you might help. Have you tried recalling your remembering state, and then your nonremembering state, and then done a contrast of submods? These are things I might try right away, for instance, if I couldn't remember a musical piece I've been working on. I remember you mentioning that the model you have developed is not state dependent, but there might have some state dependencies involved in specifically recalling the implicit aspects of a strategy, since you probably haven't had the opportunity to code it across contexts, or at least code it explicitly, and it may have to do with particular anchors in the environment you may not even be aware of.
