I personally tend toward verifying a model in my own experience. Having an orgasm is so much more satisfying that reading about one. Virtually no one conducts serious empirical research in which they use the term "unconscious mind." Researchers in Cognitive Neuro-Science conduct research into processes labeled, "sub-cortical" "parallel" (and others, I'll check with a friend of mine in that area and get back to you with some more specific terms) which could be interpreted as "unconscious" There is of course, a history of studying the "unconscious mind" in clinical psychology. You can easily get references going back to the 1800's. Most of the authors don't define the term adequately and/or give incoherent definitions, many of which are ideosyncratic to their particular "theories" or as I see them delusions. (which isn't to say that aren't fun to read at times). I'll post some terms or refs in a few days happy hunitng - Ryan |
