Yes, you're right of course, I was talking about an "epistemology" as applied to the scientific method in very generalised layman terms. I don't think of science as being purely objective (just more objective than the alternatives), you only have to look at the history and social aspects of science to see the cases where objectivity has fallen apart (also look at paradigmatic shifts by the classic from Kuhn etc..). But I do prefer it to other approaches of discovery as a general rule. |
