I think that's actually a reversion to modernism, and its fiction of "progress."  Not a fan of Wiberism, however.  He's like a contemporary cartoon of Hegel, trying to systemize and encapsulate everything, yet nothing's very new or intriguing in his thinking.  For a far richer and matured epistemology go to Deleuze and Guattari, particularly Anti-Oedipus and A Thousand Plateaus.
