Hi t I concur with what you say about Dilts. When I trained with him he clearly had exquisite second position skills down to replication of very fine micro-muscular movements during demonstrations of both modelling and specific interventions. Discussions that I had with him around that time (98-99) suggested that modelling a la NLP (as documented by John and Carmen) was particularly useful for kinaesthetic based skills and less so as the sole mechanism for more complex cognitive skills (e.g. leadership etc). His view then was that the products of NLP modelling, (rep systems, submodalities, strategies model, language patterns etc) were legitimate tools that enhanced unconscious uptake (info gained at 2nd position) and subsequent skills transfer. Of course his current position may have changed since then though the above is present in his modelling book. Cheers, Lewis. |
