Well, think of someone who you know who is a racist or a sexist. Now what you will notice is that they literally will note and comment on only those behaviors by the target racial or gender group that confirm their prejudice. In some cases, this is conscious editing - in others, they literally do not notice behaviors that are at variance with their biases. In extreme cases, you can even offer explicit descriptions of behaviors that occurred when they were present and they will honestly tell you that it simply didn't happen. If verified, this would constiture an example of a belief so deeply held and unchallenged that it has crept down into the pre-FA transforms.

The approach that we have found most effective is tasking - there is an example in Whispering of the woman with cancer whose world needed to be turn upside down (starting on pages 204). Also take a look at the section immediately proceeding on changing belief (page 203) for a more explicit representation of tasking.
