Michael, The (L) stands for the left hand, the (R) stands for the right hand, and the (C) stands for center or both hands.  In a somewhat random order each of these command letters are arranged underneath of each of the letters of the alphabet. As the participant recites the alphabet aloud, first forwards (a-z) and then backwards (z-a), (s)he responds to the commands by raising the indicated hand or hands.  Attempting to complete this task served to prove more difficult than it seemed it would be.  I was unable to indentify the sequential pattern of the commands, the (L) command was underneath of the letter L, the (R) command was underneath of the letter R, and the (C) command was underneath of the letter C.  All of these variables combined to make this exercise somewhat challenging.  I hope that this description has served to clarify.  The New Code games sound very intriguing to me.  My copy of "Whispering..." is due to arrive shortly.
