in lieu of (or perhaps in addition to) "find(ing) the part on REBT yourself" as mark suggests, here is a link to an article written by the originator of rational-emotive therapy (RET) himself, Dr. Albert Ellis: http://www.general-semantics.org/library/ellis.htm In the article, Ellis illustrates parallels between rational-emotive therapy (RET) and Korzybski's general semantics (GS) in an effort to demonstrate important areas of overlap between the two fields. He closes his article by saying: "Rational-emotive practice works quite well some of the time under some conditions with some people. It is not, and will never be, a panacea for all of all people's cognitive-emotive-behavioral problems. There is no reason for it to take an either-or position nor to claim that all people with all disturbances have to be treated with RET or else they will not improve. Rubbish! As Korzybski would probably have recommended and as I have previously noted (Ellis, 1987b, 1989), RET had better be integrated with the most useful of other therapies so that it becomes and remains effective with many (not all) people much (not all) of the time." Perhaps if more people within the supposed 'field' of NLP held similar views of the efficacy of NLP application instead of marketing it as a cure for all ills, it would be more accepted by the 'scientific' community as CBT and RET are.
