I remember many years ago driving on the highway between southern Pennsylvania and western Virginia. It was late and pitch black and the road appeared to be a straight line that went on forever. After a couple hours, I was listening to an AM radio station to try to avoid the "hypnosis while driving." The station replayed an interview with the late Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. The interviewer asked Jerry, "Why don't you write protest songs?" Garcia laughed and said, "I just don't have it in me. A protest song gives more attention to what you don't want. I prefer to write about the things I enjoy and the things I am hopeful about." I am hopeful that more of the conversation in this discussion forum can begin to turn to the proposals that Carmen and John make in WITW. I am encouraged by the discussion John Edward started regarding how to document NLP patterns. The "how" of NLP, particularly NLP(modeling) is an area I would like to explore in more detail. Carmen and John mention development of a database of patterns. Maybe now would be a good time to start that database. As a business person, I am especially interested in discussing and collaborating to develop more elegant, effective and ecological practices of doing business with grace and wisdom. Although it is not the subject of WITW (or perhaps this forum), I am very interested to learn about some of the results Quantum Leap has accomplished in this arena even if they are not prepared to address the "how" just yet.
