Jim R Now comes the subtle part - how did your mentor (and you, at present) determine what the client wants? Verbal reports are a miniscule representation of the client's functioning and it is untrustworthy as the vast majority of cases will predicably involve a conflict between the conscious (source of the partial report) and the unconscious (with whom the agent of change must form an alliance). So how do you know what it is that the client wants as opposed to thinks (consciously) s/he wants? John |
