Dear Sabine When I (JG) lived in a small Wadogo village, Tongoni in Tanzania in 1970, I witnessed a mixed Muslim/nativistic burial ceremony in which there were explosive and astonishing (to this naive American anyway) expressions of grief and mourning - people rending their garments, tearing their hair out, wailing... It was the first time that it occurred to me that excellence in griefing and mourning was an option. The point of a high performance state is not the content but the full and complete commitment of resources to the expression. All the best in your journey, John |
