Count, I think Mary's got a point. I can say I'm a genius all I want, but unless there is a cultural context to receive my genius (social approval) my genius will never be defined as such. Einstein, DaVinci and Mozart are examples of people who attained a special social approval ranking. We all may know other people who might, for whatever reason, fall into this group, or arbitrarily fall into other categories: lunatic; pest; waster of time. Furthermore, if one doesn't have a solid enough internal frame of reference, these categorical headings may frighten one away from ever discovering one's genius or lunacy. Genius always comes with good marketing. |
