Hello. "So he drew in the dirt the beginning and end and each man added trails which might help. And as a trail was added, others made connections of their own, and soon they had many alternatives to choose from. [...] each path suggested is related to the specific outcome and accepted as a potential way to achieve that outcome. If the suggestion is at a logically higher level, the manager will be at a choice point. He must consider whether he wants to remain in the previously established frame or open to a relatively less-specified verb. [...] It can be appropriate to reject such an alternative and/or to defer it[...]" -"Precision: A New Approach To Communication", Micheal McMaster & John Grinder, 1993 edition The first edition of Precision was written sometime in the early 1980's, I don't know exactly when. If that edition also contained the words "logically higher level", then I think the concept of logical level, as presented in "Whispering In The Wind", goes back quite a few years. I wonder if any text was changed going from the first to the second edition, and when the concept of "logical level" originated. -nj |
