Ernest, Several times I've done a process in which I've reversed roles in my imagination. I would remember a conversation with my boss, for instance, and then imagine myself being him looking, listening and speaking to me. I woud also cycle back into 1st position and 3rd position with updates from each perspective. Every time I did this I would get what I believed was useful information that would help me communicate more effectively with this person in a future situation. Either that or it altered something in my belief systems that made it easier for me to express myself. I don't know what it was, but I found it very useful and I recommend to at least try it, if you haven't. BTW, it's a pattern I learned in Practioner training, I believe called Aligned Perceptual Positions. best, JS |
