John, Yeh, the opposite could be true. I guess activating a good know nothing state, and use unconscious resources again would be what the authors of Whispering are suggesting. I also agree that a belief could be comprise of lanugage constructs (as a universal quantifier) or have some sensory-based qualities, strategies attributed to it.. I expect a belief at f2 feedsforward to sensory-based experience in some form most of the time.. but could be well described as grabbing at straws for explaining sense experiences! Again in terms of what is presented in Whispering its proprosed that the effective approach with these variety of scenarios is to get in a high performance state, suspend conscious filters and hand it over to unconscious resources.
