The whole vegetarianism as ethical alternative to murder argument assumes that we are somehow better than predatorial animals, or that we should be. It's really up to the eater to decide whether to buy that. Anyone who wishes to keep his or her hands clean, to purify oneself, ought to stay off the Internet, since it is also a killing machine. But to truly be ethical, and not take part in the systematic and systemic destruction of other living things, one must absolutely not exist, and never have existed. From my experience, vegetarianism is often a cover up for other kinds of meanness. I say this as an avid ex-vege. In the end what you want to do is none of my bizzness But, to get to the point, I would run the meta-model by all your presuppositions behind wanting to create convertees. Happy eating. JS |
