Hi, Mark. 1. You wrote, "...I would prefer to decide for myself how I would or would not like to respond without you throwing around the leverage of 'others' and their 'deservedness'." Your research report on the differences in unconscious versus conscious answers in terms of accuracy, honesty, and agreement is what will deserve a response. I don't use "deserve" as a symmetric relation. 2. You wrote, "You reference your own interpretations of my post and not my posts themselves." What I wrote, that is, "how you write about it, the unconscious seems like some little person inside...”, is what I believe about your posts to this thread. 3. You wrote, "Notice Noah that when the first question is posed ... there is (at that time) both a conscious and unconscious response. Noticing this ... is an essential skill." Yes, calibrating a person for unconscious signals of agreement and disagreement with your statements will inform you of when a person is lying. A person doing self-hypnosis does not access such signals. A hypnotist in therapy does not find such signals accompanying yes/no unconscious signals. Please disagree if you think differently. During verbal communication with you, a person could block out a memory and give you a false statement with respect to it, or make a poorly considered statement to you about some topic. Each of those communications would not be accompanied by an unconscious signal revealing dishonesty. You could claim that unconscious elements of the person's computations reveal the process the person used to access and/or produce the information she gives you, and that you judge that process to evaluate how well the person's answer reflects her internal knowledge. Once again, a person doing self-hypnosis does not evaluate such processes. What can you tell a person doing self-hypnosis about the accuracy and honesty of the person's unconscious signals to herself? -Noah ps: the mind/body split is a topic for another thread. I'm interested in your thoughts on the topic, if you want to start the thread. |
