I can't stand it when people use the meta-model as a rhetorical device. Come on! If you've read the discussion between these dudes you can see exactly what they mean by 'out there'. And, why don't you ask for the same level of specificity from the authors of "whisperings" because when they comment on modern science and many of the fallacies of modern psychologists it's not like they fill the book with references. Just to let you know; when Jerry has been using the term 'out there' it seems plain that he means the assumption that there exists something independent of our nervous system which transforms it. He referred, I think , to that as the "transformed". Was the distinction between the transformed and the transforms unclear to you? And don't you notice that this distinction is one that is presupposed in most western scientific enterprises? Shelly |
