Shelly, And as far as the distinction between transforms and transformed, if you did your homework you'd realize that this is something that's presupposed just as much in most eastern thinking as well. It's a very pop-ular fantasy that eastern thought such as zen (which at points confesses to the need to make this distinction) has enlightened western culture to this paradox. Whoever actually believes this has ignored much of western and eastern intellectual history. Think Kaballah, for one thing. Think Nietzsche, for another, as well as all of western classicism going back to the sophists and before. best, JS |
