Gene You comment, "I would agree on your point that it is possibly more useful than not to suspend conscious filters in the unconscious uptake stage of modelling" Indeed, we consider this criterion to be the key one that distinguished NLP modeling from all other types we are aware of. To attempt to "model" without suspension of f2 during the assimulation stage is simply a left brained academic exercise. Assimulation without f2 filters assures that something quite deep is being captured. This, in combination with the criterion that the modeler demonstrate his or her ability to reproduce the effects in the world as does the original model, defines NLP modeling for us. You also ask. "What would be an example of having 2nd position without reflexivity?" Second position is simply the ability to put yourself in the perceptual position of the other. Thus, any second position will be non-reflexive. Here we are assuming that by reflexive, you are referring to self awareness - a property required by 3rd position. All the best, Carmen and John |
