Thanks for your efforts to put this together.  It's encourageing to experience your excitment and interest which your posts have demonstrated.
I do have one observation for you. Specifically in relation to 3rd position on your state diagram. As noted elsewhere on this website I recall 3rd position described as having 1st and 2nd positions in it's scope.  I would suggest consideration be given to having a circle around 1st and 2nd positions with an arrow coming from 3rd position that connects to this circle.  However, I'm sure there would be numerous ways to represent this visually.

Jon I admire your initiative, it will afford you many more learning opportunities.
