Thanks!  I guess the issue is that the explicit use of an involuntary digital, kinesthetic signal is the only reliable way to know you are getting a clear message, unhindered, unfiltered, from the unconscious.  I read the section over over a few times, and was wondering what it was that you and Richard Bandler were doing early on that allowed you to get such good results without making it explicit.  It also makes me appreciate all the time we spent in a hypnosis seminar, calibrating yes and no signals.  I remember, also, that in either Frogs, Reframing or Trance-formations, there was something about calibrating a yes or no signal from multiple responses.  You might be waiting for a finger signal, but instead the subject's skin may redden in a particular part of his or her body.  These may often be signals the subject is unaware of, so I guess it's up to the practitioner to decide whether they want to involve the subject's conscious mind.

best,
JS
