John S. 1. You wrote, "Does that mean you were conscious of it from the beginning, or did it start out as an unconscious competence after you did the implicit modeling stages? I imagine, if it was possible, that this would be something that the unconscious would be better at tracking than the conscious mind." If you think a bit about the sequence that Carmen and I proposed in Whispering, then you can deduce the answer to your question and the justification for it as well - although I agree with you that if you have access to the source and can verify some product of your f2 computation (the deduction), best do so. Through effective imitation and the suspension of all f2 filters (a positive refusal to attempt to understand anything until we reached criterion), we achieved a significant level of unconscious competency. And you're right, of course that "the unconscious would be better at tracking than the conscious mind." 2. I have no clue what you are referring to in your statement, "So, in a sense, the making explicit of the involuntary signal may be more of a training issue than one of application, in the long run." It is the key to any application as Carmen and I argue in Whispering - including, converting Classic code patterning to New code. The world is a lot more complex that yes and no responses - either consciously or unconsciously. All the best, John |
