John, You wrote:""...yet seems close enough to new code games to give it a try..." Close enough, how specifically?" Well, many of these exercises have been constructed with kids in mind....the basic exercises involving contralateral hand and leg movement to ensure bi-hemisheric co-ordination...this is similar to the movement dynamics of the alphabet game. Counting numbers out loud backwards and forwards (e.g whilst visualising a clock face - externally or internally depending on age) adds an auditory and visual component. There are several other individual V/A/K exercises (e.g. stand on one leg writing the alphabet in the air) that could be combined into a "high performance" state. We are talking about schoolkids here (5-11 years)...and I have in front of me a handout my wife has from an issue of Primary Plus, a newsletter for teachers, which describes 20 different "brain breaks" which could all be modified and used...Seemingly they help kids "relax, recharge and refocus...and speed up learning" Of course the cynic in me wonders if it's all just a great way for teachers to get instant group rapport....all doing the same thing together at the same time....kinda hypnotic :o)...
