Hello, Matt. In my prior post, I wrote: (1) do you put the client of your sale into a deep trance, or give him hypnotic suggestions that usually succeed? You wrote: (2) Do you see how (1) presupposes that its two propositions are mutually exclusive? Giving your client hypnotic suggestions is possible to do while your client is in a deep trance. Whether you unconsciously give your client suggestions,or are conscious of what you suggest, has no relevance in a discussion of the ethicality of using one suggestion over any other or none. You could argue that: (3) if I'm not aware of the hypnotic suggestions I give, then I'm not responsible for the content of the suggestions, and so the use of the suggestions is neither ethical nor unethical. Is statement (3) a statement you mean to make? You wrote, (4) the idea of giving a hypnotic suggestion, while I understand your meaning (i think), does not fit well within my experience of the hypnotic relationship. I have practical experience of trance states, but I don't want to discuss their particulars. But when and if you have the time, you could share your understanding of the hypnotic relationship. I would read it with interest. -nj |
