Carrie, I too am enjoying the non-fixed-ness of the discussion. Although, I brought up a possible counter-example of an instance where one MIGHT introduce/suggest content via the FORM of a metaphor. I haven't convinced myself that this is the case. Nor has anyone else on this forum and I still put it out there as an open question. i.e. other than "unpacking" a metaphor, is there any other way to assure that it introduces content? In addition, you have not convinced me that metaphor is content, although you presuppose it in you last post. I understand that a metaphor, containing words, contains content. But do you think that it is possible to introduce a metaphor that the client will map OVER to their model of the world without mapping the content of your metaphor ON TO their model of their world? I do. As to, "I wondered if people were going to just eat that thing whole." Not me ;-) bye for now, Todd |
