good stuff, guys. The fact is when you introduce a metaphor, no matter how long you have worked it out in terms of isomorphism and ecology, you have no way of controling or garunteeing how it is takin in by the patient. This fact combined with the fact that you are introducing content, makes it unethical from WITW perspective. I, like matt, don't buy into this, but I think it is important for the NLP community to discuss metaphor in relation to the authors ethical suggestions. You guys are putting out some terrific ideas about metaphor! Thanks. I must admit that I'm very relieved to see that the NLP community isn't afraid to complicate the question of ethics compared to its presentation in the book. After reading that valuable book, I wondered if people were going to just eat that thing whole. carrie |
