Look Matt, Milton Erickson never used content. Somtimes he spoke in metaphor, but that is the ULTIMATE process because it lets the patient choose to make whatever meaning he wants out of it. Milton was highly ethical and you are highly unethical. Dr. Grinder has made it very easy to tell if a therapist is ethical; you simply ask the question, "Has the therapist introduced any content that did not come from the client's map?" If so, UNETHICAL. That's you! Now, for your second question. You're right that it is obvious. Medicine, unlike therapy, is based on better facts. Those facts are important for me, the client, so I need my docter to introduce content. You see, Matt, if you knew anything about Grinder's work you would know that the UNCONSCIOUS in each person knows everything about how to heal the person. So all you have to do as a therapist is basically ask the unconsious to do it. The unconscious doesn't know how to perform open heart surgery, so you need a docter. Plus, why the hell do you say that six-step reframing has content. It doesn't! Tim Bray |
